Notting Hill Carnival marred by 440 arrests and four knife attacks

The two-day event isaway for Afro-Caribbean communities to celebrate cultures and traditions
The Notting Hill Carnival has seen 440 people arrested and four people wounded in stabbings during the annual two-day celebration.
Scotland Yard said 156 arrests were made on Sunday, with 284 following on Bank Holiday Monday.
The majority were made for possession of drugs or weapons offences.
On Sunday a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in Wornington Road and a 14-year-old was arrested for GBH. The teenager's injuries were non-life threatening.
Three other males, aged 15 to 20, were also wounded in knife attacks at the opening day of the festival.


The carnival is one of Europe's largest street parties with hundreds of thousands attending each year
Police said they had seized 26 knives while patrolling the event.
Ambulance and first aid crews treated more than 1,000 people, mostly for alcohol-related injuries and injuries.
